After not having a garden for six years, I am at it once again. I absolutely love it! Though I’ve gone through the horticulture program at Utah State University, my garden is not perfect. Even if I could spend all of my time in the garden, it still wouldn’t be perfect.
Though my garden doesn’t end up looking perfect or producing bushels of vegetables at harvest time, I still enjoy the time I have spent weeding, watering, and caring for those plants. I find it relaxing to spend time there. Pulling weeds seems to have a de-stressing effect on me and paying attention to the plants is a vacation for my brain as those positive thoughts replace the negative ones that seem to flood the news and social media.
I know many of you spend time in your gardens and I’m actually jealous of the beauty you’ve created. I hope the time spent caring for your own yard gives you the satisfaction I get from spending time in my garden.
