- Mow or hand-pull weeds before a treatment. Weed products work by entering the leaves. When the lawn is mowed, there are fewer, if any, weed leaves to capture the product.
- Watering too soon after an application. Allowing the weed-control product to stay on the plants for 12 to 24 hours gives the product sufficient time to get into the weed. Early irrigation can wash the product off before being absorbed.
- Mowing too soon after a treatment. Getting the product absorbed into the leaf is the first step. The second step is allowing time to travel to the roots. Mowing too soon can prevent the product from completely killing the weed. The weed responds by sending up more leaves! Waiting two days is preferred.
- Obliterating the edges of the lawn with a string trimmer. A beveled edge allows the summer weeds to grow by destroying the preemergent layer and offering no competition from the lawn. Use a straight blade edger instead.

Moore Green Water-Less Treatment
Our New ‘Water-Less’ Treatment Can Save up to 50%!*
If there was a product available that would cut your water use by 30%-50%, would you be interested? Well listen up, Moore Green is now offering a ‘Water-Less’ Treatment. “I first experimented with this product in 2004, but the product wasn’t easily accessible,” states Blake Moore, owner of Moore Green. “Recently the product is now available and is more stable to use and with the need to conserve water, we are making it available to our customers,” he says.
It’s not a soil wetting agent that is included in Moore Green’s BASIC and PLUS lawn programs or a superabsorbent polymer, however it is humectant and hygroscopic compounds that act like a ‘water-magnet’ that attracts water molecules from the air within soil and making it available to plants. One application lasts up to three months!
How To Use It:
1. After the application, water heavily within 3 days to move the product into the root zone with at least ½” of water. Failure to deep water makes the treatment useless!
2. Turn off your automatic sprinkler program. Only water manually on the next morning when the lawn appears grayish-blue and water deeply.
3. Keep track of your water bill or usage and report it to Moore Green via [email protected]
*These steps must be followed completely to use this product to its full advantage
The Water Issue
I’m sure, by now, you are getting tired of hearing about our lack of water and how we need to conserve it. Some people are ‘gung-ho’ about saving water while others are simply ignoring the issue altogether. Most of us fall somewhere in-between.
In 2011 I attended a class in which the speaker reported on the findings of the free water audits conducted by the ‘Slow-the-Flow’ Organization. He reported that the average lawn watering was 100” of water a year – this is more than Hawaii receives in natural rainfall! The plants we grow here in Utah definitely do not require this amount of water.
Questions and problems relating to water is one of the top issues Moore Green works with. This issue is dedicated to helping our friends and customers in taking steps to reduce the water use in the landscape. I hope you find at least some of this information useful.
Thank you for your confidence in us!

Moore Green is Conserving Water
With the dry winter we have had this year many of us are concerned about the availability of water. Conserving the water we have is the first step in being sure that water will be available. Beginning in 2015, Moore Green will increase the concentration of their lawn care products allowing them to use less water.
Blake Moore, owner of Moore Green, states, “We can reduce our water use by 30% which equates into saving around 30,000 gallons this coming year. Customers will continue to get the same amount of fertilizers and weed controls however it will go out with less water.” A lawn that took fifteen gallons in previous years will now only take ten gallons and the lawns will continue to look beautifully green and lush.
No Messy Aeration Plugs
It’s a good practice to aerate your lawn once a year, however not everyone cares for those plugs that are left behind or the sprinklers that might become broken. If this is you, then keep on reading.
Moore Green offers an alternative to the messy aeration: we call it our Soil Booster. We combine soil conditioners, beneficial fungi and bacteria, and organic compounds to help naturally improve your soil. We offer two treatments per year; spring and late summer.
These ingredients are sprayed onto the lawn and helps build the root system by improving the soil. Our soil booster is great for soils that have difficulty in supporting plant growth. New lawns also benefit from adding the beneficial fungi and bacteria, allowing them to quickly build roots. Get your lawn off to a good start this spring by adding a Spring Soil Booster
