How Much Does a Lawn Service Cost?

How much does it cost to use a lawn service?

When considering lawn care, you inevitably arrive at the question – How much does it cost to use a commercial lawn care service? Although this can be difficult to answer because not all lawns or their needs are the same, I will do my best at explaining some pricing guidelines.
The most obvious pricing factor is the size of the lawn, which is measured in square feet or by the acre and is calculated by measuring the length and the width and multiplying them together. A 20,000 square foot lawn will cost more than a 5,000 square foot lawn. What may not be as obvious is that a 5,000 square foot lawn may not be half the price of a 10,000 square foot lawn. This is because the lawn service company must charge for the time to travel to each property and perform duties like loading product, cleaning off sidewalks, reeling up a hose, doing paperwork, etc. that takes roughly the same time regardless of the size of a lawn. Moore Green has a minimum charge of $47.00 per treatment.

Grubs or Dry Spot?

It’s hot outside and the lawn is looking brown.  Is it dry or could grubs be damaging the roots?

Step 1:  Check the soil with a screwdriver or a shovel to see if the soil is moist 3 to 4 inches deep.

a.  If dry water deeply.

b.  If moist go to #2.

Step 2:  Pull up on the grass as if it is sod (you may need to cut into the grass).

a.  If it’s grubs then you should see them in the soil.  They look like fat grains of rice with a reddish head.
